RITAs

Go to the Gold Guide for a guide to the whole process.

It is in the interests of our StRs that in the event of future revalidation or other inspection their portfolio contains a robust paper trail outlining evidence of satisfactory training.

StRs have an annual RITA. Interviews usually involve the StR and two consultants—one of whom will normally be the NEMSA Programme Director. A Postgraduate Dean representative may also be present.

The RITA process verifies progress through the training programme by review of various documents. We need to see the following before allowing progression to the next year of training:

1. Satisfactory Workplace Assessments since the last RITA.

2. An up to date Logbook. A printout of individual cases for each module should accompany each workplace assessment form.

3. Evidence of engagement in generic training—especially involvement in audit, research, teaching and management.

4. Evidence of participation in appraisal. (Form A, Form B and Form C.
